I don't have time to be sick!
Yesterday, I came down with a flu. I woke up like that...so not flawless. Through the day I soldiered on despite my sore throat because I had to go to school for a study group and I have exams in two weeks and my body really has no business being in less than pristine condition at this point in time. Let me tell you something: being a Superwoman doesn't always work-out the way Alicia Keys sings about.
At some point my Med-student syndrome kicked-in:
'It's just a sore throat right, so no way it's Ebola!'
'Wait! Headache! This isn't too good!'
'But I haven't really been exposed to anyone with suspicious symptoms...I'm safe right?'
'What if they put me in quarantine and it's a media circus....someone tell the press I don't want them to take pictures of me!'
'Gosh! Poor mum and dad!'
'Hydration is key! Ok, at least I'm doing that right'
All this happened in the span of about 30 minutes.
Then my sanity kicked back in and I stopped being so neurotic. I self-diagnosed it as a bacterial throat infection and texted my mum to get me the necessary drugs (yes, I do that sometimes. Hazards of the trade). While I waited, since I was running out of Strepsils, I went for the next best thing : hot tea with tea masala. For some reason, the spices soothed my throat and helped my breathe better, on a temporary basis of course. So you know what that means, I had to keep drinking it. 3 cups to be exact! But if you're ever in a fix, there's one more home-made remedy to have up your sleeve.
I've totally lost the point of this post. I got sick now, so maybe it's a good thing because it means I'll be immune to this thing that's going around and probably won't have to get sick in two weeks time when it really matters...I don't know. I'm just the girl looking for a silver lining.
