Epiphany

I woke up this morning and had an epiphany Things aren’t always as they seem Sometimes we gaze through rose-coloured glasses Imagining things in the shadows I woke up this morning and had an epiphany People wear masks Different colours, different styles A desperate attempt to hide what they really are Blurring the line between friend and foe I woke up this morning and had an epiphany So different we are, you and me Though I hadn’t seen it before I beg your pardon coz I mistook us for two peas in a pod I woke up this morning and had an epiphany We spend so much of our lives working for achievements Money, fame, glory But the happiness brought on by the presence of loved ones around us in one minute Is incomparable to 4 years worth of school/office work I woke up this morning and had an epiphany That the world isn’t always sunshine and butterflies Sometimes you’ve gotta bite the bullet But the sunshine sure feels warm on your skin I...

Sunshine, Raindrops and roses

Image
Sunshine Beautiful, warm ever-present sunshine It was all around me Almost blinding me Suddenly Clouds Dark and threatening Angry and roiling Bringing a rain so cold I couldn’t feel my bones A wind so strong like I’d never known Darkness Empty gnawing darkness Binding me Destroying all sense of direction Full of terrors I wouldn’t want to mention Hole A deep dark hole in the ground Full of desperation that bound Leaving me with nothing to grope for Sadness Enveloping me Consuming me On death’s doorstep leaving me Without an escape   Petals White perfectly-formed petals A single rose Showing its defiance It’s refusal to die in that terrible place Realization If it could make it then why couldn’t I That there must be one who cares for this fragile flower Maybe care for me too A higher power Golden The colour of the shaft of light Lighting the path of my climb Leading me where I could survi...

The view is always better on the other side of the lake

Life is a journey. If you are a Lord of the rings fan then maybe you can picture yourself as Frodo. So you are on this epic quest to get to the place where you’re supposed to be, fulfill your maximum potential or rather fulfill God’s purpose for your life. But along the way you pass through barren and harsh landscapes and you have to fight scary-looking creatures (In a more realistic sense these would represent the challenges you face). But the particular piece of imagery I’d like to use today is a lake.    So you’re on your journey and you reach a lake you’re meant to cross. The water is dark, the clouds look like their about to unleash a tornado and the shore on the other side looks so far away. So you freak out and in some cases try to avoid crossing it if you can. And even if you do begin to cross, you do so with so much fear and almost always contemplate turning back.    Same thing with life. See at some point there are things we all have to do to ...

It’s the little things that matter.

To myself and I’m sure to so many others this is a phrase that is, for lack of a better word, a cliché . No really! I’ve read it in books, heard it said in movies over and over and over again (gag!)  . But thinking about it, I realized that it is so true!!! Here I’ll give you a few examples: ·          At a funeral: So somebody has just died and all of his/her closest family, friends and colleagues plan this amazing funeral service and then it gets to the point where the speeches are being made. It doesn’t matter how much money the deceased did or didn’t have. How successful he/she was or wasn’t. The one thing that really strikes a chord is the stories about what this person did, that touched the lives of others. Maybe it was how a father was almost nearly broke just to make sure his kids went to school every single day! Or how a daughter always took made tea for her mom when her mom wasn’t feeling so well ·    ...

TAKE 2: CAMERA, SET, and ACTION!!!!!

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now (Actually since this past Friday He he!). See how in the movies when a scene get’s messed up the Director yells for the actors to do another take of the scene just so they can get it right. I figure that it’s kind of the same way with life. Our lives are the movies we are making, we are the directors and redoing a scene is an attempt to correct a mistake that has been done. Sometimes our errors in judgement, or those of the people around us, seem so big that we just want to shoot somebody! And all the while you are thinking, ‘Heck no! I’d never do that’. But life isn’t a clothing store. See in a clothing store you are likely to find some article of clothing that anyone can fit in (one size fits all). But that’s not how things really go down. The same situation is always handled differently by different people. Sometimes for the better, but sometimes for the worse. So this makes me believe that life is like a sh...

My first blog!!!!! *Excitement* :-) Why I'm doing this

You know what I love about reading and writing facebook notes? It's that you are able to share your thoughts and opinions/experiences in a unique way with all your friends. Writing is in itself an art, probably one of the oldest in the existence of the human race. I mean, think back to the era of the cave-men! They drew paintings of animals and themselves on ancient cave walls. Paintings which told and still continue to tell  the story of how they lived. In a way, that was their own form of literature, so to speak.    But so much is accomplished with the written word!!! A well written story, text or poem can have varying effects on the reader. It makes lovers who are far apart feel as if their loved ones are speaking to them face to face, it can convince a man to cast aside his earlier beliefs to support a well laid out argument, the stories within novels can make one feel the same emotions as the characters within the book; be it love or hate or tear-ind...
